Here's a battle-tested Fort Lauderdale lifestyle long weekend:

Thursday:

• Fly in, check into Rooftop Resort in Hollywood (or a hotel in Fort Lauderdale Beach)
• Dinner on Las Olas Boulevard — try Timpano for Italian or Wild Sea Oyster Bar for seafood
• If Trapeze is open Thursday, swing by for a low-key night with the regulars. Small crowd, very chill.

Friday:

• Late morning: Beach time at Fort Lauderdale Beach or drive down to Haulover Beach (clothing-optional)
• Afternoon: Pool at Rooftop Resort if you're staying there, or explore the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk
