We love the beach and we're curious if there are any clothing-optional or lifestyle-friendly beaches near Fort Lauderdale. We know Haulover is in Miami but is there anything closer? Or is Haulover worth the drive?

Haulover Beach is the gold standard and it's only about 30-40 minutes south of Fort Lauderdale, depending on traffic. The clothing-optional section (north end of the beach, between lifeguard towers 12-16) is massive, well-maintained, and absolutely packed with lifestyle couples on weekends. It's 100% worth the drive.
Closer to Fort Lauderdale, you have a few options:
- Hollywood Beach near Rooftop Resort — Rooftop Resort is a clothing-optional lifestyle hotel in Hollywood (between Fort Lauderdale and Miami). The beach right there isn't technically clothing-optional, but the rooftop pool is. Staying at Rooftop Resort gives you a clothing-optional pool with ocean views plus easy beach access.
- Sebastian Street Beach — In Fort Lauderdale proper, this area of the beach attracts a more open-minded crowd, though it's not officially clothing-optional.
- John U. Lloyd Beach State Park — Quieter, more secluded beach in Dania Beach, just south of Fort Lauderdale.
But seriously, just make the drive to Haulover. On a sunny Saturday, there are hundreds of lifestyle couples there. Bring a cooler, an umbrella, and your lifestyle app open — you'll recognize people from the clubs. It's the unofficial daytime meeting spot for the entire South Florida lifestyle community.

Haulover is non-negotiable if you're in South Florida. We go almost every weekend. The trick is to position yourself in the middle of the clothing-optional section where the lifestyle crowd congregates (you'll know it when you see it — look for the couples with the nicer setups and coolers). It's basically a giant outdoor social mixer. We've met some of our best lifestyle friends there.
If you're staying in Fort Lauderdale, check out Rooftop Resort in Hollywood for a day pass. Clothing-optional rooftop pool with intracoastal and ocean views, playrooms for couples, and it's about 15 minutes from downtown Fort Lauderdale. On weekends they have pool parties and BBQs. It's a fantastic lifestyle-friendly spot without the drive to Haulover.
